Decisions

So, I am getting close, well at least closer, to obtaining my bachelor's degree. I will finish classes next month, and in May, I will begin my Senior directed study, which lasts another semester. All that to say, I will be done in August.

Or will I?

Maybe. I came into this adventure thinking that I would go on to complete my bachelor's, then my master's, and quite possibly, my Ph.D.

But that was before I turned thirty.

So I must do the math:

Start bachelor's program at: 28.25 years
End bachelor's program at: 30.5 years

So that equals: 2.25 years

Hypothetically speaking.......
Start master's program at: 30.5 years
End master's program at: 32.75 years

So that equals: 2.25 years

At 32.75 years, should I really still be in school? Can I not just be a grown-up? Like, can I not just work, go home, cook supper, work, go home, cook supper?

Instead, my day is like one extreme to another. Within the first couple of hours, I work, homework, work, discussion board, work, papers, work....

The reality is that it is miserable. Goodness, part of the reason, some of my papers may not have been knocked out of the park, is I have to write them in snip-its. It's not like when you could just sit down for a few hours one Saturday and write a paper.

Who has a few spare hours on Saturday? I'd rather be spending time with Little and Husband.

And to get into the master's program, I would have to take the GRE.

GRE-

Grueling, Relentless Evaluation

Generally Rough Exam

Graded Rate (of) Exhaustion

Grave Results Expected

Do I really want to subject myself to all of this? And on top of everything with school, when will I find time to study for the GRE?

Can I not just revert back to when my only decisions were milk or juice???

  1. Too bad we didn't graduate with a BS the first time. That would have taken a couple of years off of that very admirable schedule of yours. I think it's great to have goals, but sometimes life happens and plans change. And that's ok too. :)

  2. It's a mess. We end up going four years to college and get a certificate. Thanks for the reassurance that whatever path I am led down it will be the right one.

  4. Your most important and admirable degree will always be "Mommy Mollye Moudy"! Good luck with whatever your decision you make!

  5. Just a note: You don't have to have a particular score on the GRE. You just have to take it. I KNOW you want to do your best on it but just a little tidbit to share!
